We believe in educating the whole child, academically and socially, and know that elementary school provides the foundation for their future development. We take that charge very seriously and strive to send our students forward with all the skills and characteristics necessary to become the responsible, productive adults of tomorrow.

Our learning community, comprised of students, parents, and staff, works together in a true partnership of cooperation, communication, and caring. We truly believe that communication is the key to a successful educational experience. Education is a partnership between the school, students, parents/guardians, and the community. All children are more successful when we work as a team to achieve educational goals. Together, we will continue to improve the quality of our school community and provide the best for the children of West Elementary.

Our school has received recognition for overall academic achievement and accomplishments by becoming a nine-time Missouri Distinguished School. We are extremely proud of this honor and encourage the involvement of parents in the many activities offered at our school so we can continue to do our best. We value our parent involvement and encourage them to volunteer at the school in a variety of ways: help in the classroom, attend monthly PTC meetings, participate in mentoring activities and support our Booster Club activities.
