Conclusion
1.  You will be assigned to a group of 3.  Each group will have a reader, writer, and artist.

2.  Responsibilities are as follows:
Reader will orally read information found on websites.
Writer will write notes of information and facts that group thinks might be used in the game.
Artist will construct the actual gameboard after research and game design is completed.

3.  "First you need to learn about how to invent a game." (http://www.onlineclass.com/trail/unit_one/game1.html)  Consider the layouts of various gameboards such as Monopoly, Pay Day, Sorry, etc.    Think of appropriate game pieces or persons.  What method of "movement" will you use - dice, cards, spinner, penny toss?  What obstacles or problems will you incorporate?  What instructions will you need to give to players?  Click here to print out a checklist to help you in your planning.

4.  After completing the checklist and deciding on the above questions, begin your research using the resources listed on the Resources page.  "Now is when you learn about the expedition.  As you read through the history of the expedition, keep the game in mind.  What would make good challenges in your game?  Save up the historical information you are learning.  It will come in handy later.  For example, there is a website that lists the equipment taken on the expedition and a list of the expedition members.  How can you use these lists in your game?" (http://www.onlineclass.com/trail/unit_one/game1.html)

5.  Reader reads webpages while writer takes notes.  The artist needs to help decide which information will make good gameboard squares or cards, etc.

6.  Using pizza cardboard boxes, artist will begin gameboard construction.  Reader and writer will assist.

7.  Directions for Play need to be typed in Word and printed out.  Put these in the pizza-box gameboard.

8.  Game pieces need to be gathered, made, drawn, etc.  Include these in the pizza-box gameboard.

9.  We'll have a "Game Day" where we'll play each other's games to see how clearly and completely directions were written and how fun each game is!  :)
