Technology - End of Year Instructions
For Classrooms and Labs.

Before unhooking equipment you should clean off your computer. Yes, you can wipe off the dust, but most importantly is for you to perform the following tasks:

  • Please go to Windows Explorer and to the Temp folder and delete ALL Temp files, just the files, NOT the Temp folder itself.
    • Then clean out temporary internet cache in BOTH Internet Explorer and Netscape.
In Netscape you do this by going to Edit >Preferences then go to left column and click Advanced and then Cache, then on right side are two buttons>Clear Memory Cache and Clear Disk Cache. Click on both of those.
In IE you go to Tools and Internet Options then in middle of dialog box is Temporary Internet files, click on Delete Cookies and Delete files buttons.
    • You should also clean up your email account by making sure any emails you want to keep are in folders you have made and not in the inbox. Delete unnecessary emails and empty your trash.
  •

  • All equipment should be unhooked, unplugged, covered and marked with your name. If everything you have is on a cart, then just unplug the components that are hooked to the wall so that it can be rolled out of room for cleaning.

WARNING: Those of you that have Smartboards, please mark or color code your wires and equipment so that YOU will be able to re-attach everything at the start of the school year. DO NOT rely on your ability to remember what went where. It must be marked. Most problems at the beginning of this year were crossed wires, then, it is just trial and error to get it back to working order.

  • The Labs at K2, West, Wireless and Library at Middle School and Library at High School will be cleaned off by Randy. Those are Building Labs, if you have a classroom lab then YOU are responsible for cleaning off these computers. Randy will be deleting all temp, cache, documents and folders made on desktops on building labs.

  • It is very important that you clean off the student workstations so you are ready to begin next year. Please delete all temp, cache and folders on desktops
  • You should remember to clean your projector if you have one at beginning of school year. The summer cleaning process will create a lot of dust that will collect on them. This will cause bulb problems at beginning of year. Those directions are found on the Central Technology link on our web page under PDF files.

Following these tips will ensure a much longer life span for your equipment and will help keep things running more smoothly with much less problems.

****Note: If your room is being used in summer school and the equipment will be used then it is the responsibility of person using the room to unhook everything when summer school is finished so that the room may be cleaned. You need to make sure this is addressed so someone takes care of it. You may want to go ahead and mark or color code before you leave to ensure the proper way to re-connect.
